We only found one box with Christmas tree decorations, but couldn't find the second one -- last summer and fall there was a lot of moving the boxes in the basement as it was used as storage space for the building materials for our new house. Thus, we did not have stockings for the kids, we just placed their stocking stuffers in 4 chairs.
Here are some pictures of our kids opening their first present in the morning.
The next unusual aspect of this Christmas was having 11 people over for Christmas dinner (plus our family). It was wonderful! A side note: I am so thankful we brought 2 folding tables with us when we moved -- we use them all the time as school tables, play tables and dinner tables.
We decided on lasagna for our main dish, we also had some delicious home-made garlic bread, fruit salads, a Greek salad, a traditional Norwegian dessert, Christmas cookies and raspberry bars. Everything was made from scratch and tasted absolutely great.
It was a delightful time.
The best present of all was to meet the newly adopted son of our friends. They picked him up from the orphanage that day.
Here we all are, giving small gifts to the kids.
By the way, Nadia is not wearing high heels. She will probably to bypass me within a year or two.

Julia, Love the pictures, and I am glad the one of your family turned out well. It was a fun day, thanks for including us. We're on the train to Kyiv and I am so sad about all the things and people we will be missing by not being with you all in Kherson.
